Parent Coaching for Eating & Weight Issues

Parent Coaching for Eating & Weight Issues

Eating, weight, and feeding issues are tough to handle in our culture. We live in a food-negative, toxic culture that can impact how our kids (and we!) feel about food, eating, and weight.

But there’s hope! You can help your child develop a healthy relationship with food and weight.

Signs you might want some help from a parent coach:

Parent Coaching for Eating & Weight Issues
  • Are you worried about your child’s weight?
  • Do you think your child is either eating “too much” (binge eating) or “too little” (restricting)?
  • Does your child refuse to eat meals with the family?
  • Does it bother you that your child has a very limited list of foods they will eat?
  • Is your child skipping meals and lying about it?
  • Have you noticed your child stealing, sneaking, and hiding food?
  • Do you worry that your own food and weight issues are trickling down to your child?
  • Is your child talking about going on a diet or trying to lose weight?
  • Are you worried your child may develop an eating disorder?
  • Do you wish you knew how to feed your child without all the drama?
  • Have you been trying to help your child with eating and weight issues but nothing seems to be working?

Frequently Asked Questions About Parent Coaching

Do you meet virtually or in person?

I work 100% virtually, which means all of my coaching calls take place on Zoom. While I know some people worry this won’t be comfortable for them, all my clients have been very satisfied with Zoom-based coaching. There are some real upsides to you being able to call me from work, your kitchen, your car, or anywhere that works with your schedule. If you need help connecting with me on Zoom, I’m happy to walk you through it!

What is parent coaching?

Parent coaching is a way for you to get information and support so you can be the parent you want to be. Parenting is harder than ever, and it can be confusing and overwhelming for all of us. I know you are the parent your child needs right now, but we all need a little help when the going gets tough. We were never meant to parent alone, but rather with the support and expertise of a knowledgeable group of other parents who care about us and our kids. I help parents quickly and efficiently get answers to their burning questions about how to improve their kid’s mental health and reduce the symptoms of disordered eating, negative body image, anxiety, depression, and more.

Where are you located, and do you work with people in my country?

Great question! I’m located in Santa Monica, California, which is Pacific Time. I work with people all over the world. For example, I have clients in the UK, Australia, France, Peru, Hong Kong, South Africa, and beyond. While it can be a little trickier to find a good time to meet for both of us, I’ve always been able to make it work!

How old are your clients’ children?

I’ve successfully coached more than 100 parents struggling with eating issues, most of whom have kids aged 10-20 but I’ve worked with parents who have kids from 2 to 35 years old.

Can my co-parent be involved, too?

Absolutely! I have many clients who meet with me as a couple. The benefit of virtual meetings is that you can be in different locations but both attend.

Will you work with my child?

I work entirely with you, not your child, because my focus is on the changes you can make to support recovery. I will be happy to provide recommendations about the sort of support your child might benefit from, but with a few rare exceptions, I only meet with parents.

How do your clients pay you?

My clients pay me using PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo. These virtual payment options make it easy for you to pay, but if you’ve never used them, don’t worry! You don’t need to learn anything new, and if you’ve ever made a purchase online before, you can do this! I’m happy to help and will make it easy for you.

Other questions?

If you have more questions for me, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You’re under no obligation to work with me, and I’m happy to answer all your questions. My primary goal is to make sure that we’re a good fit for each other, so please don’t hesitate to ask me anything! Use the contact form above to get in touch.
